A first for the USDWNT

We are FOR REAL. We are LEGIT. We are the United States Women’s DEAF National Team.

We are the best team you never heard of.

On Saturday June 15th, the US Deaf Women’s National Team scrimmaged against the Kansas City Shock of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), a semi professional league in the United States. All of the proceeds from the match were donated to us to fund our trip to the Deaflympics in Sofia, Bulgaria from July 26th to August 5th. We are aiming for our 3rd straight Gold and to maintain our undefeated streak in international play while our rivals are fully sponsored/funded by their government/federation.

For the first time in USDWNT history, we played a match against a premier women’s soccer team. This shows how much the squad has improved since 2005, along with the recognition and support in the United States.

We have to admit, we were extremely nervous before the match. The KC Shock is in the middle of their season and has been playing together for a while. We only train together several times a year. We have been training double days since Wednesday (June 12). We were tired and sore. We had some injured and ill players.

We put on a SHOW. The game was evenly matched. Physical and fast paced. We COMPETED and gave our all. We came out with a WIN. 1-0.

Safe to say, we shocked a lot of people in the stands and in social media. We are for REAL.

We are not just some special needs team that participates in a special needs Olympics where we just come together and play soccer for fun.

We are a NATIONAL team. We are athletes. We compete to be the best in the world. We are FOR REAL.

It’s time for businesses/companies to step up and sponsor us. Our fans and supporters have done everything they can at this point. The players and coaches have been fighting for respect since day one. Many current and retired US women's national team players supports us.

Why? We are on the verge of making history. Imagine if we had full resources and support available to us? Think about that.
